Iowa Custom T-Shirts & Hats (“Iowa Custom,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use iowatees.com, create an account, place or discuss an order, upload artwork, communicate with us, receive emails or text messages, visit one of our Iowa stores, or otherwise interact with our services.
1. Scope
This Policy applies to our website, online designer and ordering features, customer accounts, quote and contact forms, email and text communications, and services offered through our Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and Coralville locations. It does not apply to third-party websites, services, or applications that have their own privacy policies.
Our services are operated in the United States. If you access them from another country, your information may be processed and stored in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.
2. Personal Information We Collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect the following categories of personal information:
Contact and identity information. Your name, business or organization name, billing and shipping address, email address, telephone number, and similar contact details.
Account information. Login credentials, account preferences, saved addresses, order history, and customer-service records.
Order and transaction information. Items, quantities, sizes, colors, customization choices, quotes, invoices, discounts, pickup or delivery details, returns, and payment status.
Payment information. Payments are generally processed by third-party payment providers. We may receive limited payment details, such as payment type, billing address, transaction identifiers, and the last digits of a card, but we generally do not receive or store a complete card number or security code.
Artwork and customer content. Logos, photographs, graphics, design files, text, proofs, notes, garment-placement instructions, and other content you submit for design, printing, embroidery, or support.
Communications. Messages and information you provide through forms, email, phone calls, in-store conversations, reviews, surveys, social media, and text messages, including your communication preferences.
Device and website activity. Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser and device type, operating system, cookie and similar identifiers, pages viewed, links clicked, referring pages, approximate location derived from IP address, session activity, and interactions with emails or advertisements.
Information from other sources. Information from payment, shipping, ecommerce, analytics, advertising, social media, referral, and business partners, as well as publicly available business information.
Please do not submit government identification numbers, medical information, financial-account credentials, or other highly sensitive information through artwork uploads or ordinary messages unless we specifically request it for a lawful purpose.
3. How We Collect Information
We collect information directly from you when you contact us, request a quote, place an order, create an account, upload artwork, sign up for marketing, opt in to text messages, visit a store, or communicate with our team. We also collect certain information automatically through cookies and similar technologies and receive information from service providers and partners that help us operate our business.
4. How We Use Personal Information
We may use personal information to:
Provide products and services. Create quotes and proofs, process and fulfill orders, customize products, arrange pickup or shipping, process returns, and support reorders.
Communicate with you. Respond to inquiries; provide proof, order, pickup, delivery, account, and customer-service updates; and send email or text marketing when permitted.
Operate our website and accounts. Authenticate users, maintain carts and preferences, provide the online designer, and troubleshoot website functions.
Process payments and prevent harm. Complete transactions, detect fraud or abuse, protect accounts, maintain security, and enforce our terms and policies.
Improve and personalize our services. Understand how customers use our services, develop new offerings, evaluate advertising, and improve products, website features, and customer support.
Meet legal and business obligations. Maintain tax and accounting records, respond to lawful requests, resolve disputes, exercise or defend legal claims, and comply with applicable law.
5. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising
We and our service providers may use cookies, pixels, tags, local storage, and similar technologies to keep the website working, remember preferences and carts, understand website traffic, measure marketing, prevent fraud, and help show relevant advertising. These technologies may collect device identifiers and website activity over time.
You can usually control cookies through your browser and through any cookie-preference tool we make available. Blocking certain cookies may prevent parts of the website, account, cart, or designer from working correctly. Some browsers offer privacy signals such as Global Privacy Control; where applicable law requires us to recognize such a signal, we will treat it as an opt-out request for that browser or device.
6. How We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients for the purposes described in this Policy:
Service providers. Companies that provide ecommerce, website hosting, payment processing, order management, artwork and design tools, production support, shipping, email and SMS delivery, customer support, analytics, advertising, data storage, cybersecurity, bookkeeping, and professional services.
Suppliers and fulfillment partners. Vendors that help source, produce, decorate, package, ship, or otherwise fulfill products and services you request.
Advertising and analytics partners. Partners that help us understand website usage, measure campaigns, or deliver advertising, subject to applicable privacy choices.
Government authorities and legal recipients. When reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or a lawful request; protect rights, safety, property, or security; investigate fraud or abuse; or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Business transaction recipients. Potential or actual buyers, investors, lenders, advisors, or successors in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, sale, reorganization, bankruptcy, or transfer of all or part of our business.
Recipients you direct or authorize. Other parties when you ask us to disclose information, use a third-party feature, or otherwise give consent.
Service providers are permitted to use personal information only as needed to provide services to us or as otherwise allowed by their agreements and applicable law.
7. Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising
We do not sell personal information for money. We may use analytics and advertising technologies that disclose device identifiers and website activity to advertising or analytics partners. Some privacy laws may define those disclosures as a “sale,” “sharing,” or use for targeted advertising even when no money is exchanged. Where those laws apply, you may request to opt out by using an available cookie-preference tool or emailing info@iowatees.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.”
We do not sell mobile telephone numbers, SMS consent, or text-message opt-in data, and we do not share that information with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
8. Text Messaging and SMS Privacy
If you provide a mobile telephone number and separately opt in or otherwise authorize us to text you, Iowa Custom may send text messages about quotes, design proofs, order questions, order status, pickup or delivery, customer support, service updates, reminders, and – if you expressly opt in – promotions or special offers. Consent to receive marketing text messages is not a condition of purchase.
Message frequency and charges. Message frequency varies based on your orders, requests, and selections. Message and data rates may apply under your wireless plan. Wireless carriers are not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages.
Opting out. You may revoke consent and stop text messages at any time by replying STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT, or by contacting us at info@iowatees.com or (515) 443-0500. We may send one final message confirming your opt-out. We will honor other reasonable opt-out requests as required by law.
Help. Reply HELP for assistance or contact us at info@iowatees.com or (515) 443-0500.
How we use SMS information. We use your mobile number, consent record, message history, and related information to operate the messaging program, send requested communications, maintain opt-in and opt-out records, prevent abuse, provide support, and comply with law.
SMS data sharing. SMS consent and mobile numbers will not be sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. We may provide this information only to service providers that help us deliver and support our text messages, and only for that purpose, or when required by law.
Number changes. If you change or give up your mobile number, please notify us or opt out before the number is reassigned.
This Privacy Policy describes how we handle SMS data; it does not itself constitute consent to receive marketing texts. Any marketing-text consent must be obtained separately through a clear opt-in.
9. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to fulfill and support orders, maintain accounts and reorder history, preserve artwork and proofs when useful for future service, meet tax and accounting requirements, maintain SMS consent and suppression records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with law. Retention periods vary based on the type of information, our relationship with you, operational needs, and legal requirements. When information is no longer needed, we may delete, de-identify, or securely dispose of it.
10. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no website, electronic communication, storage system, or method of transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping account credentials confidential and for notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorized account activity.
11. Your Choices and Privacy Rights
You may update certain account information through your account or contact us for assistance. You may unsubscribe from promotional emails using the unsubscribe link in the message. You may stop text messages as described in Section 8. You may also control cookies as described in Section 5.
Depending on where you live and whether a privacy law applies to us and your information, you may have the right to request confirmation of processing, access, correction, deletion, or a portable copy of personal information; opt out of certain sales, sharing, or targeted advertising; and appeal a decision on a privacy request. Iowa residents may have rights under Iowa Code Chapter 715D when that law applies, including rights to access, delete personal data they provided, obtain a portable copy, opt out of sales, and appeal a refusal.
To submit a request, email info@iowatees.com with the subject line “Privacy Request” and describe the right you want to exercise. To appeal a decision, use the subject line “Privacy Appeal.” We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and request. Authorized agents may submit requests where allowed by law, but we may require proof of authority and verification from the consumer. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
12. Children’s Privacy
Our website and services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 submitted personal information to us, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.
13. Third-Party Links and Features
Our website may link to or integrate with third-party websites, payment services, social networks, maps, shipping providers, or other tools. Those parties control their own privacy practices. We encourage you to review their privacy notices before providing information to them.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on our website and update the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice as required by law. Your continued interaction with us after an update is subject to the revised Policy.
